Welcome to the artistic city GMÜND

The small town Gmünd is nestled in the national park Hohe Tauern and the biosphere park Nockberge. Situated on the trade route between Venice and Regensburg, a trade branch was established here in the 12th or early 13th century, from which the city quickly developed. In 1346, Gmünd received the municipal law, making it one of the oldest cities in Austria. With its superbly preserved mediaeval streets and squares, the city offers an ambience that is unique in a wide area. Due to the central location Gmünd is a popular holiday destination and is always suitable for a day trip!
